Sorry, ladies. No knitting tonight!

Just a reminder to everyone that The Aylesford Knitting Group will not be meeting this evening as I have a very special theatrical performance at school to host.
Normal service will be resumed next Tuesday, when we will be back knitting again from 6pm to 7.30pm. We look forward to welcoming our new member then!
Meanwhile, don’t forget to watch The Great British Sewing Bee on BBC2 tonight. I’ll be setting the recorder and rooting for Ann!

UPDATE: Congratulations to Ann – a most worthy winner!

An experiment with fat quarters

Not sure I like the result, but here’s a little something I tried with some fat quarters and ribbon I picked up when I popped into Hobbycraft to buy wool this week.  The wall at the top of the stairs was crying out for something a little more exciting than some chalky, white paint!  It was great fun getting the buttons to stick on!

The best flapjacks I ever made … probably

FlapjackAfter years of patiently trying out hundreds of flapjack recipes and never quite getting it right (my son clearly recalls chomping his way through countless examples in his school lunch box!) I have finally found the definitive recipe.  I’ve just made my first batch and had to share them here before they disappear!

The recipe is from Ideal Home Magazine, September 2009. http://www.idealhomemagazine.co.uk

recipeIt’s the apples and the whole pack of butter that make them sooo scrummy  … and hardly any calories! (I wish!)

Dr Who on the loose in the village!

The keen eyed among you may have spotted The Doctor taking a walkabout in the cold, Easter weather this weekend.  Luckily he was well wrapped up against the elements in his super warm hand knitted scarf, currently on sale here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_sacat=See-All-Categories&_nkw=dr%20who%20scarf%20uk
