The life-sized seagull is complete!

Sea gull

I finished knitting J’s seagull today and now he stands proudly, preparing to call to his friends.  Mercifully, he is much quieter than the gulls outside.  I love his beady eyes, made from the tiniest vintage buttons, but for me the best part has to be his knobbly knees!

I feel like knitting tonight!

Having spent most of the summer crocheting granny squares for my autumnal shades blanket (now complete, hurrah!) I can’t wait to get back to knitting tonight with the Aylesford Knitting Group.

Usual time, usual place.  New members welcome at any time.  Please call 01622 792710 for details or email

Here’s the blanket:

Eye, eye! I spy another knitted seagull!

For my ‘festival’ knitting project at the East Malling CAMRA beer and cider festival yesterday, I finally made a start on my latest knitting commission: a life sized knitted seagull for J.

The cider at the festival was, however, very good, so I’m afraid I didn’t get terribly far with the knitting.  I started at the top of the head and just got the eyes in place.
