Happy Birthday, Ailbe

We’ve celebrated Ailbe’s 4th birthday today.  As he is a rescue dog, who was found wandering alone in Ireland, we don’t know how old he is, so we guessed he was 3 years old when he came to live with us last November.

He spent his birthday having some very muddy, wet walks with Mummy and playing with his new toy.

DeeDee wears specs for #nystagmus

Just in time for #GivingTuesday DeeDee has stayed awake just long enough to take part in a spectacular photo shoot for the fabulous pets in specs competition and show her support for the Nystagmus Network.  Well done, DeeDee!  You definitely deserve all those extra treats!

Ignoring Black Friday

handmadebysoo has resolved not to spend a single penny this Black Friday.  Why not join me?  So what if you didn’t get one of those stuffed toy cats?  Is it really the end of the world?  Don’t fall into the trap of buying one on-line for a ridiculously inflated price.  Give your loved one something unique and handmade instead.  There’s still plenty of time to get crafting before Christmas.  No need to go spending lots of money either as we all have loads of festive goodies, I’m sure, hidden away in our stash.  I for one am currently knitting a little grey cat for my daughter (Oops! Please don’t tell her and spoil the surprise!)  I’m also spending lots of quality time today with our real-life cat, DeeDee, who has been part of our family now for more than 18 years.  Watch this space for some spectacular photos later!

Back from Manchester … fuelled by cake

Soo and Lynda travelled up to Manchester at the weekend for Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas Fair.

As we had hoped, it was a riot of crafty inspiration and left us full of ideas for hours and hours worth of makes.

The beautiful tweedy and flannel patchworks will send us searching through our fabric stash.  I’m already eyeing up Mr handmadebysoo’s Harris Tweed hacking jacket and wondering how many patches it would make!

With thanks to Richard for his recommendation of Home Sweet Home, we enjoyed an inevitable (though very large!) slice of cake before setting off back to Lincoln.
