I promise I’ll get back to my knitting again soon, but there are so many other projects I wanted to get done first. Here’s just one of them. For ages we’ve had our TV hidden away in a pine media cabinet. The wood was dark and the cupboard loomed when the doors were closed and the TV packed away. So I wondered whether I could remodel the cupboard to make a more up to date TV table which blends rather more seemlessly with the rest of our decor.
Out came the jigsaw. Not my favourite power tool with that scary blade that tends to rip through wood leaving ugly, gnarled edges. But I gritted my teeth and set to, slicing the old cupboard in half.
The next phase was to remove the top from the original cupboard so that it could be replaced on top of the base section.
Then the fun bit – painting with my favourite Rustoelum chalk paint in clotted ceam and sanding back to give that distressed look I love. A final coat of wax, a little wood glue and hey presto our ‘brand new’ TV cabinet was born!
