The Trumpkin awaits

Halloween is a fairly big occasion in Fenton, so it’s fun to join in with a display. We have chocolate eye balls and other ghoulish treats all ready for the trick or treaters. The trumpkin carving went quite well and at handmadebysoo towers we managed to work in quite a lot of wool, too!

In memory of Meka.

Austrian apple slices

Today’s handmadebysoo cake for the Fenton Knitting Group members to enjoy is my take on Gretel Beer’s apple slices. Very continental, but without Gretel’s sultanas as one of our ladies doesn’t eat dried fruit. A sneaky taster as they came out of the oven reveals however that they are still delicious!

Fizzy birthday knitting

One of our Fenton Knitting Group ladies is celebrating a not so very big birthday today. So last night she decided to get the celebrations started early by bringing along a couple of bottles of fizz to knitting. And very welcome they were too alongside the usual tea and cake. We even managed to find a candle for the Victoria sandwich.

Happy Birthday, Susie!

That moment when your heart sinks …

You’ve chosen the perfect yarn from at least 50 shades available online. You’ve had the adrenalin rush when the parcel arrives and you get to rip open the paper and feel the texture, followed by the tinge of guilt as you realise there is still so much yarn in your stash, but, hey, you’re over that already!

Then you’ve downloaded your chosen Pdf pattern and printed it off, selected your needles, plumped up the cushions in your favourite knitting chair, drawn up an appropriate foot rest (mine tends to be the dog and his bed – so warm!). You’re all ready to begin and then you read …

… cast on 376 stitches! What?!

376-stitches

So here they are – my 376 stitches. And I’m already on row 16. Yay!
