The Fenton Knitting Group joins the big knit

big-knit

With 25p donated to Age UK for every bottle of Innocent smoothie sold, sporting a knitted or crocheted hat, it’s time for us to join in with the big knit.

Let’s see how many gorgeous little hats we can make. And what better way to use up all those oddments of wool?

There are some fabulous new patterns to try out this year. Or better still, let’s go freestyle and design our own.

Watch this space for photos of our hats.

  1. will someone please explain, in simple language, step by step, the “pie crust” method of knitting cast off
I’m trying to make Manvell & Howell’s Sebastian & am not sure I am doing this correctly
    thank you, carol montgomery

    • Hi, Carol
When I knitted the Manvell and Howell Lincoln Imp I used the pie crust method to make the swirls on the back of his head. Here’s what I did:
having cast on the required number of stitches and then K 1 row, cast off 2 st, transfer the stitch from the RH needle on to the LH needle. Cast on 1 st. Simply repeat from cast off 2 st, transfer the st and cast on 1, until all the stitches are cast off.
Hope this helps. Please let us know how you get on.
      Best wishes, Soo
