Knitting tonight, but, sorry, not tomorrow!

Just to let you know that the Aylesford Knitting Group will be meeting this evening as usual. Yay!  Tonight’s cake will be … Tim’s birthday cake!

Unfortunately, however, there will be no knitting drop in tomorrow (Wednesday 16 April) as Soo will be knitting on a train on the way home from Lincoln.

Why not try the double knitting technique?

Ideal for making lovely warm scarves with two different coloured yarns and no ‘wrong’ side, I finally got to grips with the double knitting technique.  Basically, you cast on twice the number of stitches you need for the width of your scarf and then work alternate stitches in each of the two yarns you’re using.  There’s a lot of switching your yarn backwards and forwards involved, too.   I admit it took a little practice and I’m still not completely happy with my results, but I’m going to pursue the technique.  It’s so great to try something new.    My progress is very slow at present, but that’s because you are knitting two sides at once.   Please excuse my rather bright colour scheme, but I wanted to be sure that I could see what I was doing!

As we can’t wait the whole summer through before our next meeting on 10 September, the Aylesford Knitting Group is holding a Knitting Picnic on Wednesday 28 August from 3pm. Everyone is welcome, members and non-members. New to knitting? Why not come along and see what the AKG is all about?
We shall be meeting at The Friars in Aylesford ME20 7BX
http://www.thefriars.org.uk/ at 3pm by the tea rooms before spreading our (hand knitted or crocheted!) blankets in the grounds and enjoying some good food, a natter and a bit of outdoor knitting.
