I’m busy today putting the finishing touches to the Christmas decorations, as it’s the Aylesford Knitting Group’s Christmas party this evening. This jolly knitted Christmas wreath will take pride of place on the front door, so everyone knows they have the right house.
The mince pies are warming, the (home-made) limoncello is cooling.
I am grateful to Emma Fountaine who contacted me this week to invite members of the Aylesford Knitting Group to her fabric and yarn Open Day this Sunday, 6 October. The event runs between 11am and 4pm and is being held in the historic 15th century Tithe Barn in Lenham. Apparently, they will be offering ploughman’s lunches and cream teas, in keeping with the surroundings! Emma tells me there is lots of parking available and entry is free.
There is also a 10% off offer on her Facebook page, available for use on Sunday: www.facebook.com/emmasfabricstudio And whilst you’re out and about on Sunday, don’t forget the home wares event in aid of the Heart of Kent Hospice, at the Friars in Aylesford.
As we can’t wait the whole summer through before our next meeting on 10 September, the Aylesford Knitting Group is holding a Knitting Picnic on Wednesday 28 August from 3pm. Everyone is welcome, members and non-members. New to knitting? Why not come along and see what the AKG is all about?
We shall be meeting at The Friars in Aylesford ME20 7BX http://www.thefriars.org.uk/ at 3pm by the tea rooms before spreading our (hand knitted or crocheted!) blankets in the grounds and enjoying some good food, a natter and a bit of outdoor knitting.

And here’s one I made earlier!
The Aylesford Knitting Group meets for one final time this evening at 6pm before our long summer holiday. It’s been a very hot and sticky day, not terribly conducive to knitting, but I’m hoping my kitchen will be cool and welcoming.
